His provocative articles may serve well to populistic patriotism but contain too many careless factual errors. These errors are not difficult to identify. Itou has a PhD in physics and degenerated into a neo-social scientist or musician.
Errors are abundant in his articles, which might be to do with the low standard in his current disciplinary. He may be able to get away with junks for he has a PhD in physics; physics bla bla non-sense.
I assume most serious people regard his popular articles as irrelevant. His popularity and clarity of writing are based on his oversimplification and ignorance in many of subjects he covers.
The etymological origin of “Slav” is slave. This is just non-sense since no population call themselves as “slave people”.
Chinese cannot become the number in the world since they do not have free mind like protestant. He conveniently ignores 2 Nobel laureate Chinese-American physicists. They are definitely Chinese who went to the US. My Chinese ex-supervisor was directly hand picked by one of the guy to come to the US. Of course he has some points in the article but he completely ignore many non-protestant Nobel laureates.
Under/over-estimating Chinese power is good for writing popular articles. Japanese should expect Chinese are as good as themselves but there are ten times more Chinese than Japanese.
I realized that he is writing many dubious books related to science. He mainly write in online journals presumably with minimum editorial check. In this sense, he is similar to Nobuo Ikeda. Main stream media may need more innovation to be intellectually stimulating but proliferation of 3rd class self-proclaimed specialist writers on the web would do no good since many people will be misled. Ito may write creative fictions well but not nonfictions; he is just making his own creative fictional nonfictions.
