Considering the living condition of many developing countries like Nepal green house gas emission will inevitably increase. Infrastructures of Nepal were utterly horrible. For example, there is only one doctor in many cities and facilities there looked horrible despite their efforts. Electricity is constantly cut. Often there is not clean water and wash rooms are just mess. Their living condition should improve.
How to cope climate change? Just ignore like Sarah since we will be dead in a few decades and scientists are just selling snake oils? I have read original IPCC’s report in 1998 and was quite interested in this partly because I was studying atmospheric wave interaction models.
- See William Nordhaus’s new book treatment [pdf] of his “DICE” model for an excellent exposition.
- Weitzman argues [.pdf] that the standard economic modeling of behavior under uncertainty works well enough when the distribution of outcomes can be approximated by a bell curve.
- The very aggressive policies recommended in the Stern Review, for example, are almost entirely driven [.pdf] by Stern’s use of a philosophically derived (low) discount rate, versus Nordhaus’s use of market-based interest rates.
I was in a cab on the way to a Baltimore airport after my interview. I heard this annoying voice from the radio, wished the driver switching to anthing but: that day marked the birth of Sarah in national politics. She is one of the reason I left USA. It still horrifies me if she became the VP. She as well as the financial crisis probably propelled Obama into his presidency since many women totally disgusted with her intelligence.
- PALIN: We should create a competitive climate for investment in renewables and alternatives … none of this snake oil science stuff that is based on this global warming, Gore-gate stuff that came down where there was revelation that these scientists, some of these scientists were playing some political games. I sued the Feds over this, I sued the Feds over this as Governor for some bogus listing on the ESA, just about got run out of town, of course, by the environmentalists. But now we feel a little bit vindicated because we’re realizing through Gore-gate that there was some snake oil science involved in the data collection there.… We invented the Internet, unless that was just another Gore-gate thing too.
Go Sarah go, go somewhere!
