They came up with this date based on many factors and are not against him either; the point is to understand Him better. People considered following factors.
- When were shepherds in the fields?
- The census described by Luke
- The year of Christ’s birth
- The celebration of Christ’s birth in the the early church
- December 25 popularized
So another question is where the empeor come from. I did not ntoiced this before but the current empeor himself pointed out sometime unnoticed fact: “”On 23 December, 2001, during his annual birthday meeting with reporters, the emperor, in response to a reporter’s question, remarked that he felt a “certain kinship with Korea,” and went on to explain his feeling as resulting from the fact that the mother of Emperor Kammu (736–806) was a Korean. The emperor noted that Koreans who immigrated to Japan in ancient times introduced culture and technology, and then called upon his countrymen never to forget the regrettable fact that Japan’s exchanges with Korean have not all been so friendly.”” http://www.aasianst.org/Viewpoints/ruoff.htm
Yet another unrelated question. How close did Japan get to make atomic bombs during the WWII? It did not get too far but it had a plan to make a submarine to hit S. F. I read a book by one who involved in Japan’s atomic bomb project. He said it was not any closer to make real one. PS. Nagasaki was the third target for the day. They dropped it there because of bad weather over other targets. Ironically Nagasaki is one of most Christian cities in Japan.
